As a licensed LMHCA with over 15 years of experience in the field of mental health, I bring a diverse range of therapeutic approaches and techniques to my practice.

I have a particular expertise in working with individuals within the LGBTQIA2S+ community, and I am deeply committed to providing affirming and respectful care to people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and relationship dynamics.

I understand the importance of cultural competence and sensitivity when working with diverse populations, including those who engage in kink and alternative lifestyles.

Whether you are exploring your identity, navigating relationship dynamics, or seeking support for mental health concerns, I offer a non-judgmental and affirming space where you can feel understood and accepted.

My Approach

In my practice, I integrate psychodynamic and narrative therapy with mindfulness based methods to provide a comprehensive and holistic approach to mental health and well-being.

Psychodynamic Therapy delves into unconscious processes and previous experiences to gain insight into current behaviors and patterns. By exploring these underlying factors, you can develop a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationships, leading to personal growth and healing.

Narrative Therapy focuses on the stories we tell about ourselves and our experiences. Through collaborative exploration and reframing of these narratives, you can gain agency and empowerment, shaping new, more adaptive stories that align with your values and goals.

Mindfulness Based Approaches cultivate present-moment awareness and acceptance, allowing you to observe your thoughts, emotions, and sensations without judgment. This practice fosters greater self-compassion, resilience, and the ability to respond to life's challenges with calmness and clarity.

By combining these approaches, you can explore your inner worlds, rewrite your narratives, and cultivate mindfulness to create positive change.

Personal Views on Human Rights

I believe unequivocally that Black lives matter, that trans rights are human rights, and that racism is not a matter of opinion, but a pervasive injustice that must be confronted. I am pro-choice and affirm the autonomy of individuals to make decisions about their own bodies. Additionally, I stand by the belief that love is love, and everyone deserves to love and be loved authentically. These principles are foundational to my practice and inform my commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and affirming space for all clients.

I recognize and acknowledge the privileges that come with being a heteronormative-presenting cis white woman in our society. These privileges have provided me with certain advantages and opportunities that others may not have had access to. It's important for me to be mindful of how my identity influences my perspective and interactions, both professionally and personally. I am committed to using my privilege to advocate for equity and justice, to amplify marginalized voices, and to create an inclusive and affirming space for all individuals, regardless of their identities or backgrounds.

As a therapist, I believe it's important to address the topic of human rights, as it directly impacts your well-being and the therapeutic process. While therapists typically maintain neutrality on certain political or social issues, including human rights, there are instances where sharing personal views on this topic can be appropriate and beneficial to your therapeutic journey.

Here’s Why:

Fostering Trust & Connection

By openly discussing my personal views on human rights, I aim to create an environment of authenticity and trust in our therapeutic relationship. Sharing aspects of my own values and beliefs can help deepen our connection and enhance your sense of safety and comfort in expressing yourself.

Validation & Empowerment

Acknowledging and validating your experiences within the context of human rights issues can be empowering. By sharing my own perspectives on human rights, I seek to validate your concerns, affirm your rights as an individual, and support you in navigating any injustices or inequalities you may be facing.

Cultural Competence & Sensitivity

Understanding and acknowledging the cultural, social, and political context in which you live is essential to providing culturally competent therapy. By sharing my personal views on human rights, I demonstrate a commitment to cultural sensitivity and awareness, while also inviting dialogue and exploration of diverse perspectives within our therapeutic space.

Promoting Social Justice & Advocacy

As therapists, we are committed to promoting social justice and advocating for the rights and dignity of all individuals. By openly discussing human rights issues, including systemic oppression, discrimination, and marginalization, we can work together to explore how these broader social dynamics impact your mental health and well-being. This exploration may involve examining the intersectionality of your identities and the societal barriers you encounter.

Transparency & Boundaries

It's essential for me to be clear about why we're talking about these issues and what it means for our relationship. While sharing my views on human rights can help us build trust, it's also important to maintain boundaries and respect your autonomy. Our conversations about human rights will always be grounded in understanding and respect for each other's perspectives.

It's important to note that while I may share my personal views on human rights, I do so with the utmost respect for your autonomy and right to form your own opinions.

My goal is not to impose my beliefs onto you, but rather to engage in open and respectful dialogue that promotes mutual understanding and growth.

Additionally, I will always prioritize your needs and maintain appropriate boundaries to ensure that our therapeutic relationship remains focused on your well-being.
